Guidance
Forecasts, notifications, and settings.
Most options are under More and Settings in the app. The phone’s system settings always control location permission, notification permission, sound, Silent Mode, and Focus.
Weather forecast
On a station page, Weather forecast is a separate panel from yr.no / MET Norway for the station coordinates. When available, it shows the next hours and days, wind, gusts, precipitation, humidity, UV, and a temperature-and-precipitation chart.
Weather observation shows what the station measured. Weather forecast looks ahead. For travel decisions, live observations, warnings, and LOKAÐ (road closed) always take priority over the forecast.
Notifications
First mark stations as favorites. In Settings, you can then enable optional notifications for wind and gusts, LOKAÐ, active warnings, or Bongó, and choose wind thresholds, days, and times.
Notifications are optional. Confirm that notifications and sounds are enabled for Veðrið in the phone’s system settings.
If you do not hear a sound
Use Test notification sound in the app. Then check Sounds for Veðrið in the phone’s notification settings and whether Silent Mode or Focus is on. The app cannot override a system mute.
Bóla
Bóla is the badge on the Veðrið icon for new strong-gust or LOKAÐ events at favorite stations, where the device supports app badges. It is on by default and can be turned off in Settings.
Opening the app acknowledges the current indicator and clears Bóla until a new or more severe event appears.
Language and screen
Choose Icelandic, English, German, French, or Polish. You can also show 1–12 nearby stations, place nearby stations first, and keep the screen on while the app is open.
Registration status
Settings shows whether the phone and favorite-station rules are registered for notifications. If the status needs attention, select Retry registration. You can also reset or forget this phone’s notification registration without deleting favorites or the subscription.
